How is the waterproof rating of an electrical enclosure determined?

Release time:2023-10-17 10:43:59

The waterproof specifications of electrical enclosures have different regulations based on different dustproof and waterproof levels.

Dustproof level

0: indicates no protection;

1: Prevent large solid intrusion;

2: Prevent medium-sized solid intrusion;

3: Prevent small solid intrusion;

4: Prevent solid intrusion greater than 1mm;

5: Prevent the accumulation of harmful dust;

6: Completely prevent dust from entering.

waterproof level

0: indicates no protection;

1: Water droplets dripping into the casing have no effect;

2: Water or raindrops dripping into the housing at an angle of 15 degrees will have no effect;

3: Water or raindrops dripping into the casing at a 60-degree angle have no effect;

4: Water spraying at any angle has no effect;

5: Low-pressure water spray from any angle has no effect;

6: High-pressure water spray has no effect;

7: Can withstand water immersion for a short period of time (15cm-1m, within half an hour);

8: Soak for a long time under a certain pressure.

Therefore, the waterproof specification of the electrical enclosure can be determined based on the specific dustproof grade and waterproof grade.

Waterproof electrical enclosures are mainly used in the following equipment:

Industrial control equipment:

such as industrial control electronic power equipment, communication and security distribution boxes, thermostats, junction boxes, instruments, etc.

Diving equipment:

such as submersible pumps, underwater robots, etc.

Other devices:

There are many other devices that also use waterproof electrical enclosures, such as medical devices, smart home devices, and more.

The waterproof casing of these devices protects the internal circuitry from water, ensuring proper operation of the device.
