How to waterproof electrical plug and socket

Release time:2024-03-07 10:24:45

The waterproofing of industrial electrical plugs and sockets is mainly reflected by the IP rating. IP rating is an international standard used to describe the protective safety level of electrical equipment. The two digits after IP indicate the solid protection level and liquid protection level respectively. The solid protection level range is 0~6, indicating protection from large particles of foreign matter to dust; the liquid protection level range is 0~8, indicating protection from vertical water droplets to underwater pressure. The larger the number, the stronger the protection capability.

1. Choose the appropriate waterproof level: The waterproof level of industrial waterproof plugs and sockets is usually IP44 or IP67. IP44 can prevent water spray from all directions and the hazards of solid objects above 1mm; IP67 can prevent submersion under 1.5m water depth (submersion time is 30 minutes) and completely prevent the impact of dust hazards. We can choose suitable waterproof plugs and sockets according to our own use environment.

2. Choose the right manufacturer and product specifications: When choosing electrical plugs and sockets, you should pay attention to choosing a manufacturer with a good reputation, and choose the appropriate product specifications according to your current and voltage needs. The current types of plugs and sockets usually include 16A, 32A, 63A, 125A, etc., and the voltage specifications include 110V, 220V, 380V, etc.

3. Choice of installation method: Different sockets have different installation methods. The concealed socket must be used in conjunction with the power box and cannot be used alone; the exposed socket can be fixed on the ground, wall or production line; the connector is equivalent to a mobile socket, also It’s called an expansion socket and cannot be fixed.

4. Practical application considerations: The product itself has very good waterproof performance. Even if they are placed in an environment with water, they can withstand a certain amount of water pressure without losing their original mechanical and electrical properties, and they can even work normally.

Generally speaking, waterproof performance is closely related to factors such as its IP rating, manufacturer selection, product specifications, and installation methods. During the purchase and use process, these factors should be considered comprehensively, the appropriate product should be selected, and installed according to the correct installation method to ensure its good waterproof effect.
